Frequently Asked Questions
What is vetiver?
Vetiver is a tall, sterile grass that is native to India. It is found in over 100 countries and can grow in nearly any condition. It is a sterile plant and therefore is only spread by propagating to a new location. It can grow up to 5 feet tall and its root structure can grow between 7-15 feet in depth. This uniquely impressive root structure allows vetiver to hold soil in place on all types of topography – from plains to mountains. Vetiver currently has several uses. Vetiver roots contain essential oils and its roots are often harvested for this purpose. You can find these essential oils in perfumes, candles, and other scented products.

What is a public benefit corporation?
A public benefit corporation (PBC) is a type of corporate entity. This designation is a middle ground between a non-profit organization and a traditional for-profit company — allowing us to prioritize social good in our work, while operating profitably to sustainably support Haitian farmers in the long term.
